READwithUS™ offer workshops to bring the “reading message” to parents and
teachers of young children.SRL facilitators (presently undergoing certification) train interested
adults (parents-to-be, parents, teachers, care-givers, nannies, baby-sitters, aunts, uncles
and anyone who is in an adult-child relationship) to instil the love of/for reading to young
children aged 0 to 9 years.
The focus is on equipping adults with the skills to read with children, the purpose of
which is to develop a richer oral environment for them, to foster bonding and to help in
some way in the English language development in the child.
The first training session of the reading facilitator took place in October 2009 and 10 SRL
member facilitators were trained. There will be more training sessions for those interested
in being facilitators for SRL. Members who are interested may write to us at secretariat@srl.org.sg
for more information.
To date more than 100 participants have attended the READwithUS™ programme under the
guidance of these reading facilitators. A blog has been set up for FAQs and to keep in
touch with the participants.
Come and join us as reading facilitators and help us promote the love for reading.
